Yet Another Copenhagen-Faro Route?

In a quick move - and showing a direct confrontation with the Norwegian Air Shuttle (announcement posted early in this blog) - Transavia Airlines has announced that, starting at 10th December, they will serve the Copenhagen and Faro cities with biweekly flights.

The Transavia schedule:

  • Faro-Copenhagen: Wed. 10:25 departure, 15:20 arrival
  • Faro-Copenhagen: Sat. 10:35 departure, 15:30 arrival
  • Copenhagen-Faro: Wed. 07:10 departure, 09:55 arrival
  • Copenhagen-Faro: Sat. 07:00 departure, 09:45 arrival

Thomson stops flying from Coventry (CVT)

Thomson has confirmed that all operations from Coventry Airport will terminate this winter. This affects the route  Coventry (CVT) to Faro (FAO) route.

Gatwick to Faro by Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus has announced that they will start flying next year from London/Gatwick (LGW) to Faro (FAO). This will be a summer route, starting at 26th April to 24th October and will be a twice a day service:
From Faro to Gatwick:

  • Departs 09:25. Arrives 12:10.
  • Departs 20:45. Arrives 23:30.

From Gatwick to Faro:

  • Departs 05:50. Arrives 08:45
  • Departs 17:20. Arrives 20:05.

Norwegian Air Shuttle announced Faro to Copenhagen

After Sterling’s bankruptcy, the Norwegian Air Shuttle has announced it will start one new route from  Copenhagen (CPH) to/from Faro (FAO) for the coming summer.

The new route to Faro (FAO) takes off on April 4 and will operate every Saturdays:

  • From Algarve-Faro - Copenhagen: departs 17:40, arrives 22:50
  • From Copenhagen - Algarve-Faro: departs 13:40, arrives 16:50

Ryanair cancels Valencia base

Ryanair has canceled its base in the Spanish city of Valencia and therefore the Oporto / Valencia route.

Ryanair launched its Valencia base in August 2007, contributing heavily to the 25 per cent boost to passenger traffic witnessed over the past year and the flight toke place on the 4th November.

New Cardiff to Lisbon route by bmibaby

On 29th March 2009 bmibaby will commence one new route from Cardiff to Lisbon.
This route from Cardiff to Lisbon will operate twice a week on Thursday and Sunday.

Aer Lingus connection between Lisbon (LIS) and Cork (ORK)

Starting 14 March 09 Aer Lingus will open a connection between Lisbon (LIS) and Cork (ORK).

Ryanair: Faro to Dusseldorf (Weeze)

Ryanair announced the opening of a new route, from Faro to Dusseldorf (Weeze). The route will open on the 28th of October and will be the 9th Ryanair route from Faro.

The route will fly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Ponta Delgada (PDL) flights with Air Berlin

German low-cost airline Air Berlin will fly from their Nuremberg base this winter to Ponta Delgada, in the Azores.
This route will start at 03 November 2008 and will have a weekly based schedule. After 4.5 hours of flying passengers will arrive in the capital of the Azores, Ponta Delgada, on São Miguel, the largest of the islands.
Feeder flights to Nuremberg are available from 12 German cities (Berlin, Dortmund, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Erfurt, Frankfurt, Leipzig-Halle, Hanover, Hamburg, Cologne-Bonn, Münster-Osnabrück, Paderborn) and also from Vienna, Austria.

Air Berlin is the only Low Cost airline that operates to this Portuguese archipelago in the Atlantic.

Lisbon to Funchal (Madeira) by Easyjet

From 27 October 2008 Easyjet will start their first Portuguese domestic flight from Lisbon (LIS) to Funchal island (FUN).

The twice a day service, will for sure increase the number of turists on the beautiful island of Funchal, considered by many as a true nature’s divine grace due to its green and luxuriant flora.

Lisbon (LIS), Funchal (FUN):

  • dep. 07:35, arr. 09:15
  • dep. 16:00, arr. 17:45

Funchal (FUN), Lisbon (LIS):

  • dep. 09:45, arr. 11:25
  • dep. 18:15, arr. 19:55

First Lisbon-Copenhagen low cost flight by Sterling

The Danish airline Sterling will start their first route to Lisbon, flying to Lisbon from Copenhagen.

Lisbon-Copenhagen, twice weekly flights from 5 February 2009 and with fares from 101 EUR.

The Danes are welcome to the Portuguese capital and all their wonders.

Two new Faro routes from Ryanair

Starting at the 28th October 2008 Ryanair will have two new routes from Faro (FAO): Liverpool (LPL) and East Midlands (EMA).

Both routes will have flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Go on and enjoy the Autumn Algarve sun, bring your credit card and some Euros to spend at this enjoyable place.

New flights to Palma de Mallorca from Porto and Lisbon

Air Europa have opened two new routes from Lisbon (LIS) and Porto (OPO) to Palma de Mallorca (PMI) - flying once a week, on Tuesdays. This are the first routes from Air Europa from/to Portugal.

The routes will be active until the 9th of September 2008.

New Ryanair route : Faro - Glasgow/Prestwick (PIK)

Ryanair will start at 29th of October a new route from Faro (FAO) to Glasgow/Prestwick (PIK) Airport. The flights are schedule twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays) and the timetable for this route is:

06:40 (PIK) - 09:40 (FAO)
10:05 (FAO) - 13:10 (PIK)
